About Kawerau
Founded initially in 1953 as a mill town for the Tasman Pulp and Paper mill, Kawerau is one of the the Bay of Plenty’s hidden gems. This small, friendly community has everything you need to enjoy life.
It boasts one of the best average temperatures in the country and is a stones throw from beautiful beaches and lakes. The town itself is beautifully kept with picturesque gardens and parks that make it a popular place for many events each year such as the Wood Skills festival.
For leisure activities Kawerau has a heated swimming pool and spa pool available free to the public all year round, an 18 hole golf course and bowling club just to name a few. From a practical point of view there are several churches, two banks, post office, medical centre, supermarket and various other eateries and shops so all you need is here in one place. All of these things along with the first class care offered at Mountain View make Kawerau a great place to live.
